I have a good amp already and just need a new box for my subs. Would I have to run a wire from each rear speaker to the amp or just one? And I’m guessing it’s just a matter of splicing the wires together correct? No special connection needed? I’ve set up a system in all my vehicles previously but I was always adding an aftermarket head unit which made it a simple process. Both left and right speakers and u can either splice in or there r these connectors that I really wish I could remember what they r called but they create a connection n all they do is have like a needle go through the insulation and hit the actually speaker wire. The wires u splice into also speaker wire go to a box which give you the RCA output u want to send audio to the amp. DON’T get the cheapest one! The amp will control power levels, frequencies and such as well as of the stock radio, which is nice. If u have all the supplies including wiring, some shops will do it for free, or will charge a small fee, isn’t too much.

This action was somewhat unusual since I had not heard the tweeters in my own audio system, or even in a friend’s system that I was familiar with. Instead, four straight days of concentrated auditions, at the CES, compelled me to give them the recognition I felt they deserved. An associate, who was with me for the entire duration of the CES, fully agreed with my sonic assessment. We were both simply far too impressed with the Acapella to do anything else.
At the time, I wrote a short description of the TW 1S which couldn’t have been more positive and, even after more than 13 years, I think it still holds up for the most part, though with some reflection, as well as some recent events, I now feel forced to qualify my most extreme statement. Now in , I am actually living with these super tweeters.
I know that it’s fun to have gigantic speakers in your home theater when you want to impress your friends, but what size speakers are really necessary? Do you need really huge speakers, and are they worth it? Yes. Yes they are at all costs. The bigger the better!
May 1, 3: The original idea was to bounce the 8 drivers off the wall behind the speaker to recreate the indirect sound in a concert hall, with a single forward facing driver to give the “direct” sound. I guess the multiple drivers reduced the “hot spot” that can cause feedback problems with live events. Thats the potted history The problem with this sort of deign occurs when balancing the stiffness of the cone and the other design factors that fight each other to get bass and treble off the same driver, so the EQ unit was invented to compensate.
So yes, it adds bass and treble, but it is an essential part of the speaker design, else the frequency response will be anything but flat. The old adage of ” no highs no lows , it must be bose” dates back to the early days of the when folk saw the w rating on the cabinet and matched the amplifier to that, not realising that a w amp delivers the extra current the system needs to sound good. As long as you don’t clip the amps, a 1kw amp driving a couple of stacked pair of bose can sound remarkably good against the current opposition, especially so when you are comparing a basically ‘s design with the latest.
The latest digital controllers not only have presets for practically every bose speaker, they are also a lot quieter and more accurate an eq curve, and also include some important additional processing such as limiting. Hope this helps to give a broader picture that is relatively unbiased!! I worked as the system design engineer for Bose for a couple of years about 20 years ago

It provides the deep bass that most speakers lack and enhances both music and movie soundtracks. Whether you have a powered or passive sub, you’ll need to get it connected to your amplifier for it to work. This is a line level connection, which means it is not amplified. This connection is useful for powered subwoofers only. Connect using speaker wire. If you have a passive sub or your amplifier lacks a “Sub Out” jack, you can connect the amplifier and subwoofer like you’d connect two speakers.

How to hook up a subwoofer to a stereo system Hint: You don’t necessarily need a receiver with subwoofer output jacks. Subs can provide a foundation to the sound that few speakers can muster on their own. So adding a sub is not just about adding more and deeper bass; rather, a properly integrated subwoofer can improve the overall sound of the system. AV receivers feature bass management to direct the low bass frequencies to the sub and the midrange and treble frequencies to the speakers.
The subwoofer is hooked up to the receiver with a single interconnect cable. Stereo receivers, pre-amps, and integrated amplifiers rarely have subwoofer output jacks or offer bass-management options. So instead of using those connections, we’ll use the subwoofer’s speaker-level, aka “high-level,” inputs. Most, but not all, subwoofers have these inputs; they get connected using speaker cables to the same speaker output jacks on your receiver or amplifier that are also hooked up to your speakers.
That means you have to double up the connections on the receiver or amplifier see photo below that illustrates that connection method. The top picture has just the speaker cables connected to the stereo amp; the bottom picture has the speaker and subwoofer cables connected. The sub will use its built-in crossover aka “low pass” filter to determine the upper limit of the frequencies produced by the subwoofer.
With small speakers with 4-inch or smaller woofers, you’ll set the sub’s crossover frequency at Hz or higher, and with speakers with 5-inch or larger woofers, 80Hz or lower. Then set the sub’s volume control to provide the level of bass support you want.

Efficient Amplifiers For amplifiers there is really only one choice: These ultra-efficient wonders are inexpensive but obscure. T-amps are available in a couple of different sizes, based on different amp chips: Most of the ones I can find are only sold direct from Chinese vendors through Ebay. This means they are cheap, but it will take 2 weeks to get it. Please post if you know of other sources for these amps. I bought and tested several of the common amps I found on ebay.
Note that there are many vendors on ebay all selling the same amps or copies of the same amps. The names of the amps get a bit confusing, its easier to go by the photos. How to find these on ebay. You will find tons of these amps. Stand alone amps amps with a plastic or metal case:

Tube Stuff Suppliers Appendix B. Tube amps have always been the amplifier of choice for the working musician. Musical myth has ascribed almost magical tone to them. While the results may not be entirely magic, tubes do have a sound that is different from solid state amplifiers, and one that happens to make amplified music sound better to the human ears and brain. There are lots of technical and psuedo-technical explanations for why this should be true, but there is enough solid evidence that it is a real effect to trust it.

Do you need really huge speakers, and are they worth it? Yes they are…at all costs. The bigger the better! Monstrous, gigantic speakers sitting three feet away from your face and pumping out dB of ear-bleeding sound is exactly what you need! Just ask your spouse or the person sitting next to you. They ran out of the room screaming? The truth is, I once downsized my speakers when I went from a larger room to a new home where my theater needed to shrink.

Sounds a bit complicated and I’m not sure it’s worth it. But yes, you have it right for the most part. You use the harness on the back of the head unit and run the leads to the amp you want to supply power to your bed speakers.

Whether it’s an installation that might not have gone as planned, or a random problem that comes out of nowhere. Here is a list of your common car stereo problems, symptoms and solutions to help get your stereo up and running! Many Jeeps and Chevrolet systems have a data signal wire that carries a very low voltage signal that tells the OEM Head Unit when to turn on, however; it is not compatible with aftermarket units.
If you have a voltage meter or a test light, test the ground black , constant 12v yellow , and accessory 12v red wires to make see if you have the correct voltage in the correct wires, as well as a good ground. Constant will always be 12v, whether or not your car is on. Make sure to use your ground, as well as another ground like the frame or body of the car while testing your constant and accessory to test that you have a good ground.
May 05, · Your TX-SR has analogue preouts, so it’s possible. The easiest way to do this is to purchase a stereo amplifier having a home theatre mode / processor mode / unity gain (the names seem to vary by manufacturer).
I have a much better understanding of ohm cooking. I have two combo amps. One is a Fender Superchamp X2. The one speaker out jack that the internal speaker is connected to says Minimum 8 ohms. The other amp is a Vox AC10 with a speaker out jack of 16 ohm. I found the Bugera TS On the back it has a 4ohm mono jack and a 16ohm mono jack. I know the Vox will work best through the 16 ohm mono jack. I think the Fender would work fine going to one of the jacks with the stereo switch engaged knowing that the output would only come through one of the speakers.
I think… Could I reasonably connect the Minimum 8 ohm out from the Fender to one of the mono 4 or 16 ohm jacks. The article intimated that it would be ok. Which would be better and why? Also, you mentioned several times in comments that folks should be careful or to take it easy when trying mismatched options.

How many RMS watts are they on each channel. Normally 4-channel amps only put out between each channel. So you need to find the RMS wattage of each terminal and the Ohms. But normally Never inside speakers and Subs on an amp unless its a 5-channel amp Can I wire two 2 ohm subs to a 4 ohm amplifier Yeah, you’re fine. Don’t do it if each speaker is 2 ohms though. Wiring two 4 ohm speakers in parallel results in a 2 ohm overall impedance to the amp, which your amp was designed to handle.
They’re just warning you not to wire a set of two 2 ohm speakers to each terminal, which would give a 1 ohm total impedance and fry your amp although this could be accomplished safely by wiring the speakers in series How to wire my 2 12 inch dual voice coil 4 ohm massive sub woofers There isn’t a wiring configuration for a pair of DVC 4 ohm subs that results in a final impedance of 2 ohms.
The wiring options result in either 1 ohm both voice coils and subs in parallel or 4 ohms voice coils in series, subs in parallel. With a 2-channel amp, you can either wire one sub with voice coils in parallel to each channel or bridge the amp channels and wire the subs to 4 ohms. In either case, the power to the subwoofers is the same.
