Some of the most significant prophecies in scripture regarding the posterity of Jacob are found in the blessings of Judah and Joseph in Genesis However much of the poetry in the blessings is difficult to understand. How should we understand the rich symbolism of these verses? This approach may result in translations of key phrases that differ significantly from what is contained in the LDS edition of the Bible. Adding to the difficulties of interpretation of these blessings is that we have no direct help from modern scripture. Surprisingly, while Joseph Smith made substantive changes in the wording of the blessings of Ephraim and Manasseh in Genesis 48 and in the testament of Joseph in chapter 50, he made no significant changes to Genesis More importantly, it is hoped that this understanding will lead us to a greater dedication to our own responsibilities as the posterity of Israel. Wherever the Church of Christ is established in the earth, there should be a patriarch for the benefit of the posterity of the Saints, as it was with Jacob in giving his patriarchal blessing unto his sons. Lavish blessing is showered upon Joseph, the name here standing for Ephraim and Manasseh together.

For more than half a century the kingdom of Judah, under two powerful and righteous monarchs, had enjoyed the greatest prosperity. Uzziah strengthened the borders, extended the supremacy and vastly increased the resources of his little State, which, it is well to remember, was in its own size not larger than three average Scottish counties.

He won back for Judah the port of Elah on the Red Sea, built a navy, and restored the commerce with the far East, which Solomon began. He overcame, in battle or by the mere terror of his name, the neighbouring nations-the Philistines that dwelt in cities, and the wandering tribes of desert Arabs. The Ammonites brought him gifts. With the wealth, which the East by tribute or by commerce poured into his little principality, Uzziah fortified his borders and his capital, undertook large works of husbandry and irrigation, organised a powerful standing army, and supplied it with a siege artillery capable of slinging arrows and stones.

He built cities and castles, quelled a rebellion among his tributaries, and caused their riches to flow faster still into Jerusalem.

Despite the fact that Zenos is not mentioned in the Bible, there is some evidence that Old Testament authors may have known his writings. Passages such as Exodus Others, such as Psalm A particularly interesting example of an Old Testament prophet possibly drawing on the writings of Zenos can be found in the book of Ezekiel.

In Ezekiel 17, the prophet presented a parable regarding an eagle that came and snatched the top, the highest branch, of a cedar tree and carried it off to another land Ezekiel This allegory appears to be making reference to the King of Babylon, in the first place, as the eagle, and how he carried off the king of Judah, Jehoiachin, into Babylon. The Lord, for His part, is likely referring to the Messiah of the House of David, whom He himself would plant and cause to bear fruit for Israel.

Our Story I have found the one Song of Solomon 3: Our first memory was spent talking around a fire pit and playing corn hole. His sweet southern charm drew me right in that night! Our first few dates included pumpkin carving, bowling, and lots of laughter! We quickly began to realize what God was doing in our lives and the commonality in our desires to be used for ministry was undeniable. Very soon we knew in our hearts marriage was in our near future.

God has moved mightily and quickly in our lives and we are simply so excited to “do life” together and to serve Jesus together. Our hope is to be an example for others as we grow in grace daily and share the Good News of what God has done in our lives! We pray our “love story” always represents the sacrificial, redemptive, and gracious love of Christ. After all, the only one who can fully satisfy the human heart is the one who made it!
